Enjoyed the book - Lukas is the main character. Starts out with an interesting bank robbery and then gets to a back story that is fascinating and well developed. Really keeps you guessing and there's enough action, mild sex, and drama to keep the story moving along. The characters develop as the story moves along -- like peeling an onion without the tears. Charlotte steps in and we don't find out about her 'til pretty far in. Won't spoil it but Max's book (wish I really had it to read) plays an integral part. Max is this super smart guy that went to Vanderbilt - gets a Philosophy and Physics degree (always thought theoretical Physics was a bit of theology/philosophy anyway) -- Max is smart and REALLY knows human behavior. The author uses sayings from different people throughout - worth the book just for those. The bank robbery is just smidgeon of the plot though -- gets much wider - becomes a morality play a bit - great ending. You are not left frustrated like many books - fun and satisfying will make lots of people wonder about the life they've chosen - oh - the pansy is important.Product details

Bitingly witty and a face paced page turner. Author Matt Gale spins a life tale in the spirit of Kurt Vonnegut or Phillip K. Dick. If you're a fan of either, you will enjoy this book!
This book is a joy to read. It's easy reading as the story flows and intrigues! You really get to know the characters and the story has substance and depth. You learn about human behavior and are able to self reflect your own fears and life passions. I'll look forward to Matt's future writings!

Are you sad because you're going through and existential crisis and you don't think anyone understands? Do you wish you could ride awesome motorcycles and be amazing but the only way to escape your life is through books? Then here's your champion of awesome. Read it. Love it. Read it again. Love yourself. Matt Gale is a wizard.
This book started off fun, adventurous, and like a good action adventure novel. At one point I noticed the story seemed to be over, yet I was only half way through the book. Then it took an unexpected turn and I felt like I was on roller coaster with blind folds on. I had no idea where the story was going, but when it was done I was like, "Again! Again!" The fact that the author is from Nashville makes it that much cooler to me...
Matt Gale delivers a wonderfully suspenseful and engaging tale with this novel. The finer details and literary references he includes will connect with well-read readers, but that's just an added bonus to the page-turning story of these life-long friends and the unforeseen consequences of a choice they made together 7 years ago. This first novel does not disappoint!
I'm always jealous of how people can come up with perfect crime. Matt does it twice. The book is totally worth it for that, but even moreso for the existential questions at the end. #MoreCourageMoreAction
